Rolfing enables the body to regain its natural integrity, enhancing posture and movement

Rolfing massage practitioners work with the body’s fascia, or connective tissues, to realign and balance the whole body, giving relief from pain, enhancing health and improving performance

Rolfing was developed by Dr. Ida Rolf in the 1940s. She believed that the body functions best when its bony segments are in proper alignment, and that misalignment puts stress on the soft tissues—muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments—thus creating compensations throughout the whole-body restructure. Drawing upon many forms of alternative healing including osteopathy, chiropractic medicine, yoga, and the Alexander Technique, Dr. Rolf developed an approach to relieving chronic postural misalignment by manually releasing restrictions in the fascia.

Common conditions treated with Rolfing include:

  • Back pain
  • Chronic stiffness
  • Chronic pain from repetitive motion
  • Chronic pain following injury or surgery
  • Muscle aches
  • Tension, muscle soreness
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Poor posture (Hyperkyphosis)
  • Hunched shoulders and forward head posture
  • Leg deformities

Other recommended treatments may include:

  • Chiropractic
  • Osteopathy
  • Scoliosis rehabilitation
  • Myotherapy
  • Deep tissue/Sports massage
